Chapter 2
This chapter brought a new perspective on history as I got to understand how things and people started falling into place with regards to our modern day communities. Strayer explains how the word civilization can have both a positive and negative connotation. Societies were being formed during these time but those who were from the complex cities or states were deemed superior where as outsiders were considered barbaric and savages. The word "civilization" is what began to make this difference. The first civilizations came to be between 3500 b.c.e to 3000 b.c.e. There were three main locations where these civilization came to be;Mesopotamia, Egypt and Norte Chico. Later came the Chinese, Indus Valley, central Asia and last but not least the Olmec. I hope to learn more about them in the future chapters and how they evolved.
